Nurturing plants

Healthy skin is beautiful skin.

Skin care products from Dr. Hauschka rely on the revitalising powers of nature. With their specific properties, each individual plant makes our cosmetic formulations even more effective. And they are also made with all the expertise and accuracy of a pharmaceutical manufacturer.

Pharmaceutical knowledge for our cosmetics.

As pharmaceutical manufacturers, we know that every plant and every natural ingredient together with its specific properties plays a part in making the overall product composition harmonious and effective. We therefore select all our medicinal plants and extracts for Dr. Hauschka Skin Care in accordance with the same principles we use for WALA Medicines.

What makes a plant a medicinal plant?

First and foremost, the fact that it is not quite ‘normal’. Standard characters do not harbour any particular potential; the ‘black sheep’ on the other hand are interesting. They may blossom at an unusual time of year or grow in climatically extreme locations. Being different in this way requires special strengths, and these are precisely what make a plant a medicinal plant. We harness their ‘super powers’ and use them to formulate our premium natural cosmetics.

We are very picky about our plants.

We make abundant use of nature’s treasures in our Dr. Hauschka Skin Care formulations. Ideally, our plants come from:

  • Our medicinal herb garden, where they are grown in biodynamic quality
  • The fields of our Demeter farm, the Sonnenhof
  • Ecological cultivation partnerships – either regional or in other parts of the world if the plant species does not thrive in our climate
  • Wild harvesting in the Swabian Jura

The heart of Dr. Hauschka: our medicinal herb garden.

We harvest as many of the medicinal plants as possible that we use in our skin care products from our medicinal herb garden. This is located directly behind the oldest WALA building in Eckwälden, at the foot of the Swabian Jura. Our work here adheres to many different rhythms, creates a closed natural ecosystem, and leaves room for wilderness. It is a real oasis. Come and pay us a visit! We offer regular guided tours of our medicinal herb garden.
