Red in the face? Here's how to soothe your skin
We all know what it feels like to Blush suddenly. However, people with sensitive skin live with recurring redness. Flushed skin can be a sign of couperose. Does this skin condition sound familiar to you? If so, this article is for you. Read what you can do to soothe your skin.
What causes red blotches on the face?
Let’s briefly clarify what we are talking about: first of all, one skin condition among many. We call it 'sensitive skin prone to couperose'. This means that your skin easily becomes unbalanced, because its protective function is weakened or it is particularly sensitive to internal and external stimuli. It tells you this by turning red. Red blotches on the nose and cheeks can have other causes but, if you have couperose, dilated capillaries become visible through the skin, often accompanied by a feeling of tension and heat. Couperose can be the precursor to rosacea. However, while the symptoms continue to subside, your skin needs one thing above all else: targeted support from you.
More interesting than the actual causes of couperose, especially a predisposition to vasodilation, are its triggers. There are several typical triggers
- UV radiation
- temperature changes, e.g. returning home after a winter walk
- spicy food, coffee, alcohol
- nicotine
- stress
- irritating skin care products

The redness is so visible because red colour stimuli stand out strongly against your usual skin tone. Greenish or yellowish neutral pigments visually compensate for this effect. You can find them in Dr. Hauschka Colour Correcting Powder, which calms your entire complexion.
Coversticks with mineral pigments are suitable for targeted corrections. Dr. Hauschka Concealer covers redness, blemishes and uneven pigmentation with pinpoint accuracy. It can be applied hygienically and has a soothing effect on redness caused by pimples.
The redness of pimples is caused by inflammation deep in the skin. If you want to reduce it over the long term, opt for soothing, anti-inflammatory skin care rather than aggressive instant fixes. Cool, targeted active ingredients and, above all, patience help restore the skin’s balance more quickly. Try Dr. Hauschka’s Clarifying Clay Mask and Clarifying Toner.
Cold upsets the balance of the fine blood vessels in your face. When they initially contract and then rapidly expand again, blood flow to the skin increases and is visible as redness. Sensitive skin reacts particularly strongly to this kind of temperature stress. The fact that the redness mainly occurs in the cheeks and nose area is due to the fine, translucent facial skin, which contains many superficial blood vessels and little protective fatty tissue.
